This Privacy Policy applies to the CPWDway mobile application and its related services. CPWDway is operated by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. The app provides engineering lessons, quizzes, certification examinations, multilingual assistance, an AI learning assistant, funding information, learning events, and engineering reference materials.
1. Information We Process
Account and profile information
When you register or sign in, CPWDway may process details you provide, such as your name, email address or mobile number, account identifier, selected engineering stream, and authentication information. The exact fields depend on the sign-in method and app configuration.
Learning and certification information
To deliver lessons and certification, the service may process lessons opened, learning progress, checkpoint and quiz responses, examination answers and scores, pass/fail status, and certificate identifiers. Certificate details may be made available for verification by certificate number.
Technical and diagnostic information
The app or its services may process information needed to operate and secure the service, such as app version, operating system, device model, language preference, session information, timestamps, and error or crash logs, where these are collected.
Voice, language, and assistant queries
CPWDway supports multilingual learning and assistance in 22 languages. When you use speech, translation, or the AI assistant, the service may process spoken audio, speech-to-text output, typed questions, language preferences, and responses. Depending on the feature, spoken audio may be processed by the device's installed speech-recognition service, while recognized text may be sent to the CPWDway backend or a language service for translation and response generation. The relevant service provider may process data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Files you choose to save
If you choose to save a certificate or another file, the app may use the device's available save or file-selection mechanism. The app does not access your broader photo library merely to save a file you have selected.
2. How We Use Information
Information may be used to create and manage accounts; deliver learning videos and stream-specific content; remember learning progress; run quizzes and examinations; calculate results; issue and verify certificates; provide voice, translation, and AI-assisted learning; display learning events and funding information; maintain security; diagnose technical problems; respond to requests; and meet legal obligations.
AI-generated or translated responses may be incomplete or inaccurate. For decisions involving engineering safety, official requirements, funding eligibility, or other important matters, users should verify information against the relevant authoritative source.
4. Camera and Microphone
Camera during proctored examinations
The front camera is used during a proctored examination to confirm the candidate's presence. The camera preview is processed in real time; camera images and video are not recorded or uploaded, and the camera feed is not retained after the exam session.
Microphone and speech
Microphone access may be used when you activate voice questions or speech-enabled assistance. Audio may be converted to text and, where required by the selected feature, processed by a language service. Depending on the speech service and device settings, audio or recognized text may leave the device. The production implementation and provider terms must be checked to determine the exact processing and retention.
You can manage camera and microphone permissions in your device settings. Denying a permission may make the feature that requires it unavailable.
5. Retention and Account Deletion
Information should be retained only for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain learning and certification records, protect service security, resolve disputes, or meet applicable legal or recordkeeping obligations. Certificate verification records may need to remain available after an account is closed; any such retention should be limited and explained to the user.
If you can create an account, you can request deletion through the in-app account-deletion option and the external account-deletion page linked below. After verifying a request, CPWDway deletes the account and associated personal data unless specific information must be retained for a lawful recordkeeping, security, or legal purpose. Any retained information is limited to that purpose.
Account-deletion request: Visit the CPWDway account-deletion page for instructions. If you create accounts in CPWDway, this page and an in-app deletion path must both be available and kept functional.
6. Security and Permissions
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. Data transmitted between the app and online services is protected using HTTPS or other appropriate safeguards where supported. No electronic storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
Camera and microphone permissions are requested for features that need them. If the app includes analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or other SDKs, their collection and sharing must also be reflected in this policy and the Play Console Data safety declarations.
7. Children
CPWDway is intended for engineering students, site engineers, junior engineers, contractors, and working professionals, and is not designed specifically for children. Information relating to children is handled in accordance with applicable law and Google Play policies.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to or correction of personal information, request account and data deletion, or ask questions about how your information is handled. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Some records may be retained where legally required; any exception should be limited and explained.
9. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when CPWDway's features, service providers, or data practices change. The revised policy will be published on this page with an updated date. The app owner should also update the Play Console Data safety declarations and in-app disclosures where necessary.
